Ebensu Foundation is an international charitable organization based in Ghana, West Africa. We provide support to those of us who are unable to break free from the cycle of poverty. Whether it is helping a woman without family support to learn a skill, or capitalize on a skill she already has, so that she can support herself and her children, our goal is to be there nurturing her success through grants and micro-loans. We also focus on child education, in a place where fees are collected and uniforms are required for basic education, many children stay home. Without an education, children stand little chance of living above the poverty line as adults. Alongside our major projects, we also work with partner charities and individual donors as their “boots on the ground”, supervising distribution of donated items like reading glasses and safety goggles to schools, communities, and individuals without means.
All of the work we do is possible through 100% charitable contributions. Through your support, we can make a difference in the life of an individual and in turn entire communities they touch.
Ebensu Foundation, our mission is to help people faced with poverty and few resources to create a self-sustaining life. This may be in the form of business assistance, skills
training, child educational support, and other human related necessities as and
when required of.
Our Co-Founder and CEO, Mr. Ebenezer Mensah, witnesses the abject poverty in the rural-urban communities near Cape Coast in Ghana, every day. Since he was a child, he dreamt of instead of he dreamed of establishing an organization to alleviate the suffering he sees, especially amongst marginalized individuals and children, giving hope to those who struggled to meet their basic needs.
Today, through Ebensu Foundation programs, we bring this dream to reality one case at a time, helping individuals to survive and ultimately thrive.
Ebenezer grew up in a single-parent household in the Central Region of Ghana. He watched his mother struggle every day to raise himself and his 4 siblings. Through the support of individuals and sponsorships, he was able to complete his primary education and attended Cape Coast Technical School until 2005 when his primary benefactor passed away. From this point on, he began a career of working with charitable organizations including:
Susan is a California native with a passion for travel. In 2016, she took a hiatus from her career as an architect to spend two years working as a volunteer with the Peace Corps in Ghana. During her time in Ghana, her work was at the grassroots level, helping her community with issues related to agriculture, food security, sanitation and small business creation/development. At the end of her service, she was honored with the title of Queen Mother of Development by Daasebre Kwebu Ewusi VII and enstooled as Nana Aba Ewusiwah I. It was at the start of her term as a volunteer when she met Ebenezer Mensah, and the two discovered their mutual interest in helping others as a life-long commitment. Together they created Ebensu Foundation in 2018.
Ebensu Foundation was established in May 2018 with the Register General’s Department with cert. number CG040662018, under the Department of Social Welfare with cert. number D.S.W/7416 and with the Ghana Revenue Authority with Tax Identification Number C001213886X.
